 Ebony Wakefield - Head of Ballet and Contemporary Coach

Ebony began ballet at the age of three, training in the Borovansky Memorial Australian Academy of Dancing (BMAAD) and Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) methods. Ebony’s performance and training experience began early,highlighted by a season performing with the Australian Ballet Company in Graeme Murphy’s production of ‘The Nutcracker’ in 1994 and selection for training as a Junior Associate of The Australian Ballet School in 1996.

In 1999, Ebony was the recipient of the VCE Premier’s Award for obtaining the third highest study score in Victoria for performance excellence in VCE Dance.

Ebony trained full time at the Queensland University of Technology in Ballet and Contemporary dance, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2004. Throughout this time, Ebony was appointed Regional and State Choreographer for the National Youth Dance Theatre, a position which she held for 4 years.  An expansive performance and teaching history, Ebony has also danced in television commercials, music videos, participated in community based dance projects and choreographed numerous works for performance.

Also possessing a degree in Health Science (Musculoskeletal Therapy) and 5 years clinical experience, Ebony has a keen interest in injury treatment and prevention, anatomy and kinesthetics, with a key focus on teaching students how to dance well by educating them on how to move correctly and safely.

Ebony’s passion for ballet and commitment to cultivating a solid base in technique is matched only by her dedication to providing students with an enjoyable atmosphere in which their skills can be developed and their joy of dance nurtured. 

 

                         

Amy Mulcahy - Funk, Hip Hop & Jazz Coach

Amy Mulcahy started out dance at age 4 training in classical ballet at a small dance studio in Echuca. After several years of classical ballet training and relocating to Geelong, she also started up theatrical Jazz and funk. Aged 14 she decided theatrical dance styles were her passion.

 Amy’s passion for dance continued as she went on to study two years of full-time dance in Melbourne at ‘Patrick Studios Australia’. She trained in styles such as Jazz, Tap,   Lyrical, Hip-hop, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Acrobatics.

 Within her full time course she was able to be involved in a significant amount of reputable gigs that started her performance career, and she became acquainted to the commercial dance Industry world. Amy was a back up dancer for Australia’s Kate Alexa, featuring in the music video clip ‘tear drops on the dance floor’. Amy also danced behind names such as ‘Wolfmother’ and ‘Kate Ceberano’. Other opportunities to expand her performance repertoire were having experienced being part of the dance performances for reputable fundraising balls such as the Alana & Madeline foundation ball and the KPMG balls.

 Amy has also touched on the TVC side of the industry, dancing in a bollingwood film ‘Mrs. Kenya’ and was an extra f

or a Bakers Delight commercial.

 Once she finished two years dance training Amy landed her first dance contract for ‘Norwegian Cruise lines’, an American company. Traveling around the Bahamas doing the dance shows on board in 2010-2011.

 Within Amy’s dance career teaching has always been a passion and something she aspires to always do. Sharing with students her passion and knowledge of dance. She hopes to grow as a dancer and a teacher. Always changing with the different dance fashions and challenging both herself and her students.

 

  Jennifer Stirk - Vocal Coach

Jennifer has been singing, dancing and acting since she was 6 years old. Her passion for performing has just grown since then.

Jenn is what you might call a Jack-of-all-trades working in many fields in Geelong and Melbourne. Teaching singing/dancing, Working Hospitality, Central Geelong Marketing and still going to auditions living the life of an singer/actor/dancer and relishing it!

She recently organized a fundraiser for the Flood disaster at GPAC that raised 4,500 dollars. The event being a Gala Variety night filled with, singers, dancers, comedian etc...gave the local performers of Geelong a chance to strut their stuff. One of the highlights of her life. 

 Over the years she has studied Music Theatre, Jazz Music and Personal Training, this year returning to Uni to complete her teaching degree. 

After Uni, She travelled around Australia for three years performing in Alpha Shows Theatrical Productions. Disney based Rock Musicals that travel to theatres and schools, playing roles such as Sleeping Beauty, Mrs.Potts, Muse and many more.

 Some Shows she has performed in are Eurobeat (Ukaraine) Cats (Rumpleteaser) A Chorus Line (Maggie) FAME (Mabel) Fiddler on the Roof (Chava) Boy from Oz (Karen-Trio) and A Funny thing happened on the way to the forum (Philia).

 Teaching singing is a passion of her and she loves to see young and upcoming performers perfecting their talents and reaching for the stars.
